Do you ever hear someone sing or play
the piano and wish that you knew just
one song well? Or, do you hear your favorite R&B, Gospel, Jazz, Hip-hop, Country, Rock or Classical artists perform and feel inspired by their skill? Do you daydream of writing your own songs or performing in front of a crowd? Do you wish you could touch people through the music you create? Or, are you a professional singer or keyboard player with a constant desire to take your music to the next level. Well, my friend: if you answered yes to one or more of these questions, you have the passion. Now, what are you going to do about it?
After years of instructing singers and keyboard players with varying levels of experience, I've heard many different scenarios. Some people desperately want to learn how to sing or how to play the piano, but they are overwhelmed with work and other responsibilities and just can't find the time to practice or commit to lessons. Others desire to learn, but they are struggling financially and just can't afford it. Others, on the other hand, do decide to begin training; but they can't seem to find the right teacher or they live in an area that just doesn't have a lot of opportunities to learn how to sing or play the piano.
It can be very frustrating to have a deep desire to learn, but not have the resources necessary to make that happen. So, this has become my passion: helping people learn music there-by positioning them to receive inspiration through the success they achieve. My over twenty-years experience as a professional singer/pianist, vocal coach and keyboard instructor has helped me to learn that the desire to create music is a mechanism designed to drive us toward all of the powerful benefits that music offers. People have been healed through music. Others have found the will to live, through music. Some might even argue that they have maintained their sanity because of music. What ever the case may be, there is an undeniable power found in every note we sing or play --so powerful that it transcends language and even culture.
Testament to this power, I have seen lives transformed just from learning how to sing a little better. I've seen people's confidence soar just from learning a new chord on the piano. The whole process of following this thing we call "passion" is a journey that leads to a lifetime of growth, creativity, and joy. It's not about being talented or what other's might perceive as "gifted" (although we can all appreciate the contributions of those who offer their gifts). The real gift that learning music offers is it's ability to change lives. So, embrace your passion, in spite of perceived limitation. Embrace your passion, whether you feel "gifted" or not. Embrace your passion, inspite of yourself and others. It is my passion to help you.
