My mission is to empower and inspire singers and
keyboard players to create music and to become
well-rounded musicians through effective training.
Further, my mission is to produce resources for
musicians, singers, and the general public that
will educate and encourage a deeper appreciation
for music and the arts.
Establishing a solid approach to vocal and keyboard
training in Contemporary music is my main objective.
I believe that consistent, quality training coupled
with self-discipline and tools for creativity will bring
continued growth and success. Regardless of styles preference- R&B,
Gospel, Jazz, Country, Christian, Pop, Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul- this solid approach to training will provide the foundation necessary to create in any style.
My approach utilizes the rudiments of traditional training as a foundation for understanding the elements applied in contemporary music. I believe that today's vocalist needs to be equipped with the knowledge necessary to survive in a quickly changing music industry. A part of fully equipping vocalists, is to enable them to acquire keyboard skills and an understanding of music theory. Further, for keyboardists, the demands are no less. I believe that contemporary keyboard players should have a knowledge of sight-reading and traditional music theory to enhance their skills and to make them more versatile musicians.
The very nature of music and the divine nature of man to create requires that those who study and create music must embrace change and usher in new ideas. The core of our philosophy is that an inspired student will gracefully ride the wave of change.
I seek to encourage singers, keyboardists, and songwriters to take their technical skills to the next level in live-performance. As a part of the training, I focus on artist development including stage presence and microphone technique.
