Canangela has been my technique teacher/vocal
coach since October 2007. She helped me coming
out of a couple of years in which I did not sing at
all. I had totally lost confidence in my vocal
ability as a singer and knew I needed a very experienced instructor in order to sing at a professional level. With only a few lessons
I regained my confidence. I know that the
techniques she is teaching me are fundamental to my singing career. She is also very versatile and she is able to work on different kind of material, so we can easily transition from Musical Theatre songs to R&B or Jazz. I travel over five hundred miles every other week to attend my lessons at her studio and I believe they are definitely worth it.

When I began my journey under Canangela's leadership
I had just had a baby and I had totally lost my singing
voice. It was just a whisper. I was truly impressed with
Canangela's care for my instrument because she noticed
that there wasn't just training issues but quite possibly
a health issue that needed special attention. After seeking
the help of a doctor along with guidance of Canangela's
training techniques I was able to regain what I had prior to
pregnancy and much more.
Since then I have gone on and spear-headed a gospel ensemble and Canangela's example of leadership has influenced the way that I instruct and guide those members and that is with kindness, gentleness and love. She is the best.

I began going to Canangela for vocal coaching in
June 2006. I had just released a 6-song EP of
original songs and was doing my best to get it
to anyone and everyone who would listen to it. The responses I got were good, but not exactly what I expected. “Are you receiving
any vocal coaching?” “No, why do you ask?”
“Well, your songs are good, the production is good, but you could really use some vocal coaching to correct your tone and most of all improve your pitch.”
I set up an appointment for me to meet with Canangela for an evaluation. She asked me what I wanted to work on and improve. I told her pitch and range (I wanted to be able to sing higher with more authority). Well, friends, Canangela got to work. She gave me a list of weekly duties. From daily breathing exercises and vocal warm-ups to abdominal exercises to strengthen the muscles in my stomach she kept me busy. She would work with me once a week for 30-minute lessons. I learned that there is more involved with singing than just your mouth and throat. She is now working with me on piano as well. I just recorded three more songs and the compliments I have received on my vocal improvements are priceless. I know that it just gets better and I’m looking forward to seeing the results of my piano lessons. Canangela has become a friend as well as my coach. -Andy Rocker
I have taken piano and voice training from Canangela for a few months in the past several years. Canangela is an excellent teacher with superb quality of teaching skills.
Aside from her shining achievement of numbers of degrees she owns in music, she is also jazz proficient. Her knowledge in jazz combined with other musical theory helped me a great deal in unfolding some of my classical training. I am a classically trained pianist.
So, reading sheet music is not a problem. However, learning intricate chord arrangement and figuring out chord symbols have never been my forte. Canangela’s step-by-step instruction has not only opened my ears and eyes into a new form of music, it has given me a new love for jazz music. Canangela has a special gift with her students. She has a way to simplify the most complicated musical language to fit your standard, so whatever the musical background you come from, you can easily adopt to Canangela’s teaching.
I’ve also taken voice training from Canangela for a while. She really stressed on strengthening my diaphragm and control. Since the time I began taking voice lessons from Canangela, my control has improved tremendously, and I can hold a note for a very long time now. She has given me many exercises as to how to develop my endurance and expanding my diaphragm. I’ve also done some jazz vocal training with her. Coming from a solely classical background in voice as well, I had no idea how there was another world of singing in jazz. Because of Canangela, now I’m able to juggle between all genres of music, and I have gained so much knowledge in how to incorporate her training into my daily performing as a local artist in Atlanta, GA. My goal is to continue to develop my skills Canagela has instilled in me to grow as a songwriter, pianist, singer and multi-faceted artist. Thank you to Canangela!

I have worked with Canangela Robertson as my voice coach through off and on for 3+ years. I am a worship leader at my church and sing background vocals for our worship team, as well.
Prior to working with Canangela, I was a fair singer, relying on my natural ability to get by and had never trained professionally before.
Canangela immediately began to ground me in the basics of vocal technique and helped me immeasurably improve my sound and range. Her exercises, tips and encouragement have helped me continue to develop my talent, and to value my voice as the God-given tool that it is.
In the periods that we do not work together, I have found that if I maintain the discipline of her exercise work and remember her specific instruction, I continue to improve. Once I lean back on my own technique, I will again feel strain, lose range and flexibility, as well as purity of sound.

My name is Eric S. Starling and I have been taking lessons from Canangela at since May 2006. Even within that time I can honestly say that she has helped me to improve my skills tremendously. Canangela is not the first instructor that I have worked with but she has helped me to make the most significant improvement in the shortest amount of time. With each class she challenges you to push the envelope and to increase what you think you are capable of doing. Her ear for detail is wonderful and she is very technically astute. My tone and confidence in my range has drastically improved. She has even gone so far as to help diagnose a minor medical issue that was interfering with my vocal performance. Once officially diagnosed by a physician, it was obvious that I had been suffering with this issue for quite some time. Something that other instructors either missed or were not aware to be on the look out for, Canangela picked up on it within our first month and a half of working together. If that is not enough here are two final factors to speak to my belief in Canangela, I live in Charlotte, NC and have to drive 3.5 hours every week for my vocal training and even when I was temporarily unemployed, I did not allow that to deter me from my training with Canangela. If you are serious about your desire to sing Professionally, you can not do any better than and Canangela Robertson as your vocal coach.

For many years, I thought in order to sing, you
had to be born with what it takes. At my first voice
lesson, I learned that singing requires strength and
control of the vocal muscles, along with the ability to
breathe properly; all of which could be learned over a
period of time. That was good news to me, because
at that time there was not one single song that I could sing, in tune, from
start to finish.
Imagine my delight when after only a few weeks of training, I had the confidence
to sing a complete song! My commitment to the lessons and the daily exercises
had me singing in no time. Of course it started off rough, but seeing the
improvements helped me to look forward to new developments. After months of
training, I now discover that my voice is much stronger, my breathing is more
controlled, and the ability to sing is getting easier and easier. I am excited
at the challenge of working on new material.
Needless to say, I am a walking billboard for vocal training, because it warms my heart to give this "testimony of hope" to those who deeply desire to sing. I may not have been born with what it takes, but the care, the direction,
and the professionalism of my vocal coach has enhanced my life tremendously!
And for that I am so thankful.

During my sessions with Canangela, I learned various vocal techniques that have proven to be very beneficial, even today. Canangela taught me how to really sing gospel while still protecting my instrument – my voice. She showed me ways in which to support my notes with muscle control techniques and proper posture. She addressed my diet – drinking adequate water and not eating any sweets. She taught me how to listen to other artists that utilized these techniques and then strive to emulate their vocal strength through use of proper technique. She provided me with such a challenge, it was hard not to want to do more and learn more.
Vocal technique was not all Canangela provided to me during the time in which I studied with her. Every learning session became a testimony time, in which we would share our spiritual beliefs through the songs in which we sang. She brought much perspective to the words being sung and reflected on how good God really is to His children. This additional dimension made the sessions with Canangela soar above and beyond any other vocal session I have ever experienced. There is not a doubt in my mind that our meeting was ordained. Yes, it was ordained because not only did she help me to realize the importance of caring for my God-given instrument, but she also helped me to realize that the combination of technique and blessing makes for a powerful ministry.

As an aspiring gospel vocalist, it is refreshing to
find someone such as Canangela who is exceptionally
trained and qualified to teach the unique style that is
gospel singing. Grounded in the fundamentals of
vocal technique, Canangela has helped me reach new

studio two and a half years ago, I had no idea that today
my range, intonation, breath control and even song-writing skills would be to the capacity that they are. Before coming to Canangela Robertson, I thought that
I didn't need vocal training. I felt like, I could sing, what could
she show me. I'm so glad, I was wrong!! Prior to getting
training from her, I was fearful of getting out of my comfort
zone. Through her training, I was able learn techniques that
improved my range, but also increased my confidence in that
area. Though I came to her for help in that specific area, I was able to improve my breathe support and vocal control. Those were things I wasn't even aware I needed to work on.
Since receiving training from Canangela, I've been able to walk into auditions with much more confidence in my skills. I have recently been on tour with Lyfe Jennings, as a background singer, and look forward to what's to come in my singing career.
